Your basal body temperature (BBT) is your lowest body temperature in a 24-hour period. The best time to measure your BBT is when you first wake up in the morning. Before you even get out of bed to brush your teeth or start your day, pop a basal thermometer into your mouth.
■ For Oral Measurement : To ensure an accurate reading, please place the probe under the tongue, close the mouth, and breathe normally. This perfect site for oral temperature taking ensures that users obtain the most precise result, which is close to the core temperature. ■ For Axillary Measurement : Dry the armpit and place the probe head under your armpit with your arm firmly closed. ■ For Rectal Measurement : Lubricate the probe head with Vaseline for an easier insertion. Then, softly push the probe head into the rectum approximately 2 to 3 cm in depth.
The body temperature varies at different parts of the body and different time of the day, and it is affected by many different factors, including ambient air temperature, individual health conditions, patient activities, and the way people take temperature. In addition, the measuring results are also affected by different devices that users are using. Therefore, the temperatures which are measured at different sites should not be all to be compared.
